POSITION: Technical/Functional Lead
LOCATION: Hybrid local (within 100 miles of San Diego, CA to be able to travel to site occasionally)
SHIFT: M-F, 8am-5pm
UC San Diego Health seeks a senior Technical/ Data Analyst to provide technical and functional support to finance, payroll, timekeeping, and scheduling operations and critical projects.
This role will work independently as well as collaboratively with project stakeholders, employees, timekeepers from various departments and other central and system-wide entities. The role will leverage technical and functional expertise to identify, analyze and resolve cross-functional issues that may span multiple systems.
Functional/Technical Knowledge
• Ability to comprehend and leverage technical and functional knowledge of Timekeeping/Payroll and delivered and custom PeopleSoft application
• Knowledge of the delivered and custom PeopleSoft records to create SQL to pull the necessary data for analysis
• Ability to develop required technical solutions based on functional need and required business processes
• Ability to translate technical and/or complex issues into easy-to-understand explanations to key audiences
• Superior in Microsoft Excel with ability to gather, manipulate, interpret, and analyze data to establish patterns and trends
• Ability to configure, test, and validate new functionality in timekeeping to meet business process demands
Data Management
• Ability to triage complex problems across multiple systems to gather required data and perform analysis
• Perform QA analysis on the data files to analyze manual edit errors and validate against employee’s data
• Ability to synthesize data into desired applications and format and create documentation of findings that can then be used for issues resolution, knowledge management, fixes, and enhancements
• Ability to create and maintain data and reporting metrics from timekeeping, payroll and data warehouse systems

• Proactively monitor internal daily operations and project deliverables and collaborate with central entities understand technical and functional changes that may impact key audiences

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems or Computer Science (or related) OR combination of relevant professional experience and education.
• Six (6) years of data analysis experience on a system implementation project
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical resources
• May be required to work occasional weekend and holiday depending on business needs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a large, complex healthcare setting
• Working knowledge of university staff personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements related to, or having an impact upon, time and attendance functions
• Experience with implementing or upgrading timekeeping systems
• Experience using Smartsheet or other work management platform
